A.P.C. Katie Holmes, french elegance meets new york chic

A.P.C. Katie Holmes, french elegance meets new york chic
6 June 2024

American actress Katie Holmes, a loyal A.P.C. customer since the nineties, collaborated with the Parisian brand for an interaction composed of a dozen very feminine pieces and a line of extremely refined accessories.

By immersing herself in the A.P.C. archives on Rue Royale in Paris, Katie “[stepped] into the memories of A.P.C. garments of the past, bringing inspiration from collections from the early 2000s and working to make them modern and relevant to the 2024 customer.”

The collection is designed as a series of complete silhouettes that can be easily combined with one another. A highlight is a pastel-colored quilt, inspired by a model made by Katie Holmes' mother, available in a limited edition of one hundred numbered copies.

On the evening of June 5th, 2024, a talk was hosted at A.P.C. Mercer to celebrate the launch of Interaction #24 A.P.C. KATIE HOLMES with Katie and A.P.C.'s Artistic Director, Judith Touitou, moderated by Gabe Tesoriero. The discussion delved into the creative inspirations and personal style that shaped the collection. Katie and Judith shared how their backgrounds and experiences influenced the design process, providing insights into their collaboration, artistic vision and friendship.

Judith Touitou remarked on the collaboration, "[Katie’s] choices were always very clear; she had these very smart and thoughtful ideas about what a woman today should wear to feel confident and beautiful but still be herself."

Q&A with Katie Holmes

1. Did you conceive this collaboration with A.P.C. as a complete wardrobe?
I approached this collection with the idea of creating a complete wardrobe. The pieces can be mixed and matched to craft a variety of looks that reflect one's personal style. There are options for both day and night, professional and playful, including suits, skirts, jeans, flats, heels, and jackets.

2. In a word, how would you define the unique twist you brought to this collaboration?
I would say tradition. We've incorporated quilting into some of our pieces and created quilts that accompany the collection. To me, patchwork represents history and memories, a thread of generations living within each of us. It's about vintage inspiring the modern, honoring our past, and embracing tradition.

3. What did you learn from this experience?
Working with Jean and Judith Touitou has been an incredible gift. They welcomed me into their creative process, embraced my ideas, and together we built this collection. I learned so much from their artistic perspectives on shape, form, and color. This collaboration has been a joyous reminder that working together with kindness can produce beautiful and authentic creations.
